How to Make 2026 Feel Less Predictable and More Fun

How was 2025 for you?

OK? A bit boring? Dull? If this year wasn't your year, then for next year, maybe injecting some fun and sanity into things can help you reclaim your joy and give you something to look forward to.

Because the thing is, it's so easy to get stuck in a rut and get bogged down in the day‑to‑day mundanities and lose the spark that keeps life enjoyable. It's also easy to get stuck in a rut and keep doing the same things simply because that's what you've always done.

If you want some ideas on how to make next year a little bit more exciting, we have some ideas that could be exactly what you're looking for.

Visit a Comedy Club

If you need something funny in your life, then a comedy club is going to be the perfect place to look. Now, not all acts will be to your taste or what you find funny — comedy, like art, is subjective. But why not look at the local comedy clubs or hosted nights in your local area and see if there is anyone who appeals to you.

The best part is it's not like a mutual night out; you turn up, grab a drink, take a seat and watch. Plus, there's something different about watching comedy live over the TV. It hits differently. It's worth a try; you never know, it might be exactly what you need.

Book a Cheap Day Flight

We've all seen the stories on social media where someone found a £10 flight to Italy, went for pizza, was home in bed by 10 pm and in work the next day. Admit it, it sounds intriguing, doesn't it?

So why not try it? It does take some planning, and it's not always something you can do on the spur of the moment — you will need to find the cheap flights usually in advance. But if you can nab a bargain, it's the perfect day trip. Pick somewhere close to your local airport, a couple of hours max. Pick a destination you wouldn't otherwise choose and go for the day. If you're off work Tuesday and Wednesday, go early Tuesday morning, come back late Tuesday night and sleep it off Wednesday. Job done.

Choose a Tasting Menu

If eating out is your kind of thing, but you spend more time deliberating where to go or what to eat, a tasting menu takes all of the indecision out of dining out.

You simply book for the set menu, turn up and enjoy. It's different in that you're not choosing what you eat; it's not a meal for satiety as such but more of a cultivated dining experience. You're going for the atmosphere, to sample potentially new foods. You go for a slower night out, it runs on its own schedule, there's no turning tables over or rushing out the door. The whole night will be for the tasting menu only, meaning you get to relax and do nothing except eat, drink and enjoy.
