Old-School Sweets, Grown-Up Treats: Inside Stockley’s Confectionery
Writer’s note: Even though these products were gifted to me, all the thoughts and opinions shared here are completely my own. My reviews are based on my personal experience with the products, aiming to give you an honest and unbiased perspective.
What I Tried
I tried a mix of classic and slightly more indulgent treats from Stockley’s Sweets - partly for the nostalgia, partly because I refuse to choose between fruit and chocolate when both are on offer:
Fruit Sherbets
Classic Cubes
Chocolate Malt Balls
Chocolate Caramels
Jam Roly Poly & Custard
Lemon Meringue
A proper pick-and-mix moment, just in slightly more grown-up packaging.
How to Use It
Enjoy straight from the jar whenever you fancy a sweet treat - no prep required. These are the kind of sweets you can dip into throughout the day, whether you’re craving something fruity, chocolatey, or just a quick sugar hit between tasks.
They’re perfect for sharing (if you’re feeling generous), adding to a dessert table, or popping into a gift hamper for a thoughtful touch. Equally, they work just as well kept within arm’s reach on your desk or kitchen counter - ideal for those little moments when you want a nostalgic pick-me-up without overthinking it.
My Experience & Results
Opening these felt like stepping into an old-school sweet shop - but without the sticky floors and overwhelming indecision.
The Fruit Sherbets were instantly nostalgic: sharp, fizzy, and properly tongue-tingling in that way that makes your jaw do a little “what is happening?” moment. The Classic Cubes leaned more traditional - solid, satisfying, and the kind of sweet you let slowly dissolve rather than crunch through.
On the chocolate side, the Chocolate Malt Balls were dangerously moreish - light, crisp centres coated in smooth chocolate, very easy to keep reaching for without thinking. The Chocolate Caramels felt a bit more indulgent, with that soft, chewy centre that actually delivers on flavour rather than just sweetness.
The standout for me, though, was the dessert-inspired range. Jam Roly Poly & Custard shouldn’t work as a sweet, but somehow it really does - creamy, fruity, and just unusual enough to feel like a conversation starter. Same with the Lemon Meringue, which had that perfect balance of sweet and sharp without tipping into artificial.
Texture-wise, everything felt well-made and intentional - nothing overly hard, overly chewy, or overly sugary in that cloying way some retro sweets can be.
If I had to be picky, some flavours do lean quite sweet (as expected), so these are definitely “little treat” sweets rather than something you’d mindlessly snack through in one go… although the chocolate malt balls might test that theory.

Final Thoughts
Stockley’s feels like a genuine love letter to traditional sweets - but with just enough polish to elevate them beyond pure nostalgia. There’s something really comforting about flavours you recognise instantly, paired with a level of quality and presentation that makes the whole experience feel a bit more intentional.
These aren’t the kind of sweets you grab absentmindedly and forget about five minutes later. They’re the ones you portion out, savour, and maybe even hide from the rest of the household. Whether it’s the playful dessert-inspired options or the classic boiled sweets, there’s a clear sense of care in both the flavour and the finish.
They also sit nicely in that “little luxury” space - accessible enough for an everyday treat, but elevated enough to feel gift-worthy without needing much effort. A jar of these on a desk, coffee table, or tucked into a hamper just makes sense.
A solid choice for anyone who loves nostalgic flavours, thoughtful gifting, or simply wants a treat that feels a little more considered than your average bag of sweets - without losing that joyful, slightly childlike excitement of opening something sugary and familiar.
