There are some brand founders you meet and immediately understand why their business is doing well. Mel, the founder of Nude Theōry, is one of those people.
I recently met up with her for a coffee in Perth, Australia, and what was supposed to be a quick catch-up turned into a fantastic conversation about everything from leaving the corporate world and starting a lingerie brand to fabric choices, big plans for the brand and her upcoming wedding, and what happens when success seems to keep finding you.
And, having now spent some time wearing one of Nude Theōry's chocolate lingerie sets, I can safely say I understand why the brand is gaining momentum.
One of the things I loved most about chatting with Mel was hearing just how much has happened in such a short space of time. She made the move from operations management into entrepreneurship within the last year, pivoting to launch Nude Theōry and bringing a completely new idea to life.
Starting a business is one thing. Starting a lingerie brand is another entirely.
There's a lot of competition out there, and it would be easy to focus solely on creating something that looks beautiful. But what really stood out to me when speaking with Mel was the importance she places on how the pieces feel.
Nude Theōry is centred around quality, considered design and natural fibres, and honestly, you can tell.
The chocolate set I received includes a bra and knickers, and OMG, they are so soft.
I'm very quick to take off uncomfortable underwear the second I get home, so comfort is a pretty big deal to me. But this set is one of those rare finds that manages to feel lovely against your skin while still making you feel, honestly, pretty bloody sexy!
The fabric is soft, comfortable, and genuinely feels good to wear. There's something really nice about knowing that the material choice hasn't been an afterthought, either. Nude Theōry uses natural fibres as part of its focus on creating pieces that prioritise comfort alongside aesthetics - and, from actually wearing the set, that focus definitely comes through.
Can we also just take a moment for the chocolate colour? It's rich, it’s flattering, and it’s a nice change from the usual black, white and neutral options that tend to dominate my underwear drawer.
Over coffee, Mel and I also chatted about what's next for Nude Theōry, and it sounds like there is plenty to be excited about.
The brand is continuing to grow, with plans to expand and take Nude Theōry to an international stage. One particularly exciting milestone is its upcoming showcase in Paris in 2027, where the brand will have the opportunity to introduce its collections to a wider industry audience.
There is also an upcoming Vanity Fair UK feature in the pipeline, which is another pretty huge moment for such a young brand.
What struck me most, though, wasn't just the list of exciting things happening for Mel and Nude Theōry. It was how she spoke about them.
She was poised, down-to-earth, and incredibly easy to chat to. There was no sense of someone trying to make everything sound bigger or more impressive than it was. Instead, she seemed genuinely excited about what she's building and grateful for the opportunities coming her way.
And honestly? I think that combination of ambition and authenticity is pretty special.
It's always lovely to receive a product that you genuinely enjoy, but getting to meet the person behind the brand adds another layer to the experience.
Nude Theōry is still in its early days, but there is already a clear sense of where it's going. From the attention to fabric and comfort to the growing list of exciting opportunities on the horizon, it feels like a brand with a lot of momentum behind it.
As for the chocolate lingerie set? Soft, comfortable and stylish. Basically everything I want from my underwear.
After meeting Mel and hearing more about her journey, I have a feeling this is only the beginning.
Nude Theōry is, in my opinion, definitely a brand to watch.

Women are angry - and justifiably so. It feels as though the world is fighting against us, with rights we fought so hard for being stripped away and the increasing rates of femicide. In the face of this, rage is not only understandable but essential. Jennifer Cox, author of Women Are Angry and cohost of the wildly funny and honest podcast, Women Are Mad, is one of the voices at the forefront of this movement, helping women feel safe and ok in their anger. Her book gives shape and language to our collective anger that has made us feel silenced and dismissed for so long.
