4 Ways To Invest In Rest This 2021

While it’s all well and good spending our time working from home in pyjamas and slippers- the lack of distance between work and rest means many people are currently struggling with their work/life balance.

But this Spring, if there’s one thing you need to invest in- it’s your mental health. Invest in rest and learn how to look after your mental and physical health even during busy times.

Below, find 4 ways to fully switch-off and invest in your rest this 2021

1. Get creative

I find that my mind switches off when I have something different to focus on- and getting creative can really help you stay balanced and relaxed when resting.

You could get out and do some sketching, or use an adult colouring book to enjoy yourself and give your mind a well-earned rest from work or study stresses.

2. Enjoy an exercise class

While it may seem silly to invest in rest by doing exercise- switching your brain and mind off with a workout or fitness class is a great way to relax after a busy day of work, or help distract yourself from any anxiety you may be feeling. You could even try an online yoga session to really rest your body and mind during down-time.

Getting involved in exercise is a great way to refocus the mind and invest in healthy, happy habits.

3. Prioritise your sleep

The best, most simple way to invest in rest is to get the sleep your body needs to function. Investing in rest starts with introducing and maintaining healthy habits in our daily routines. Prioritise your sleep above all else and make sure you are investing in rest… by getting rest!

Sleep is especially important when you’re busy, so make sure you’re getting early nights when you need them. Even when you’re busy, sleep has to come first- and you may even find that your productivity improves after a good night’s sleep.

4. When it doubt, write it out

A great way to invest in your mental health while we edge towards the end of lockdown is simply writing down your thoughts. It’s hard to think through some problems, so try writing down anything that’s going on in your head.

Journaling can also be a great way to get creative, and there are some great notebooks and journals out there that can help you stay calm and look out for your mind during these tough times.

………………..

When you’re busy working or studying from home, investing in rest can feel like a waste of time- and it can be hard to focus on anything else if you’re stressed.

However, by looking after your mind and giving it the rest it needs- whether that involves a new activity, more sleep, or a more balanced routine- your energy levels and health can only improve.

Invest in rest this 2021- I promise it will be the best investment you make all year!
