Quick fire questions with model, Lexi Griswold

Lexi (Alexis) Griswold is a force to be reckoned with, the model turned digital personality who has gained her mass following not only from her natural beauty (which is clear as day), but also from her focus on female empowerment.

Born and raised across the pond in Portland, Oregon, Lexi moved to LA on her own at age 21 to pursue her dream in fashions modelling. Now you may have seen her being featured in top brand campaigns including Green Juice, Revolve, Skinny Mint, Dolls Kill, and Motel Rocks. With a whopping 475k followers on TikTok, and 214k on Instagram, she’s kind of killing it.

Last year, Lexi took her career into her own hands, leveraging her platform to become a role model to other women, by showing them they have the power to control their narrative, how to empower themselves and break stigmas and ultimately, how best to support each other. I mean, you GO girl. We salute you.

I chat to Lexi about modelling, how she thinks her platform is transforming the world, how COVID changed her working life and foodie tips if you’re vegan.

Tell us a bit about you, where are you from, how did you originally get into modeling?

I am from Portland, Oregon. I'm 22 years old. I got into modeling from social media, which has also been a tremendous help in connecting with people and getting modeling jobs.

What does a standard day look like for you at the moment?

I typically wake up, eat breakfast and go to the gym in the morning, come back to get ready for my day. The day can vary from there - if I'm needing to create content, I will do that, or sometimes I need to edit content, so I will do that. Eat lunch, check my emails to see if there is anything else I need to get done. Then I usually cook something for dinner, or if necessary, I’ll go get dinner out.

Did any part of your work change during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how did you adapt?

Yes, it did! Suddenly a lot of shoots weren't happening anymore. Brands weren't even collaborating as much either.

As a model turned digital personality, how do you feel you now use your platform or voice differently?

I like to post a lot of educational stuff on my story, such as healthy living or repost what's going on in the world. I think that social media is kind of like a new version of the news. I try to share a lot of positive, inspirational quotes on my stories hoping it can brighten someone's day. Since I'm vegan, I also like to share different plant-based foods people can try that I like.

You're also a vegan, is this a dietary choice or for environmental reasons, and what's your absolute favourite vegan meal to make?

I would say, for both health and environmental reasons. I learned so many things about being vegan and non-vegan while I was changing my diet. I think people should be more educated in what they are eating, where it comes from, and what it does to your body.

What other women do you admire?

Emily Ratajkowski and Kim Kardashian

You're looking to get into the entrepreneurial side of things, tell us about your future business and when we can hear more about it?!

I am definitely wanting to create some sort of clothing line, not sure exactly what yet. But I know when the time comes, it will come to me! (:

What does female empowerment mean to you?

To me, female empowerment means to do as we please regardless of our gender. To accept myself and other women for who we are, and not to judge one another for our choices, whether that be to show off parts of our bodies that make us feel good about ourselves, speaking on topics that have been taboo for centuries, or having a day where we are just not ourselves. Women have come a long way but we still have some work to do. We should support each other and not tear each other down!!

I love tossing in a weird one at the end; what is your party trick?!

I am pretty good at beer pong, haha!
